Teacher thank you

Teacher Thank you Gifts
I was meaning to post this back at the end of June but then we went on holidays.  But maybe it can give some one an idea for next year.

I made pencil, apple, ruler and black board cookies on sticks. Then I filled a plastic cup with m&m's.  You don't want to use glass if you are sending it to school with you child.  Then my daughter stuck the cookies in the m&m's. She and mommy tied on the ribbon and attached the poem.

Here is the poem.  I didn't write this, the poem is all over the internet, and I couldn't seem to find who the actual author was.
Green is for the inspiration you give me each day.
Blue is for your patience in showing me the way.
Orange is for your warmth and caring style.
Yellow is for the way you always make me smile.
Red is for my life that you have touched this year.

You place knowledge in my hands,

that melt into my heart and live forever!
You're a "Magnificent" & "Marvelous" Teacher!
Thank you for being my M&M!

Little Ladybug
This cake was for a one year old little girl.  It's an 8" round Ladybug and a cupcake for her to smash.  I covered the cake board in green fondant so the ladybug could be in the grass.

used a red ribbon around the edge of the board.

Fancy Nancy Birthday Cake
This cake was for my daughters 6th birthday.  I really like having a two tiered cake for a birthday party so the kids can choose between two different flavors.  Rebecca asked for a chocolate cake, but I knew not everyone would like chocolate so I used a white cake on the top tier and actually almost half chose the white.  Though personally, I'll choose chocolate every time!

I made Nancy's head with royal icing.  The swirls on the top tier are also royal icing on top of the pink marshmallow fondant.   My friend lent me a fondant flower maker for the flowers and now i need to go out and get one because that thing is Awesome!!  You just press the flower cut out in between the flower press thing and it adds the texture of a flower.
And here is my younger daughter Caitlin,  oooh and aaahing over the cake.  She's such a little encourager, making mommy feel good about her cake.

Cinderella Cookies
To go along with the Cinderella cake, here are some Cinderella cookies!
Princess with glass slippers and pumpkin

making fairy tale girls perfect for a princess party or a tea party!
Barbie Princess Cake
These seem to be very popular among little girls. This one has a butter cream skirt though I think it would be fun to do one in fondant since you could add a lot of frills that way.

Easter Fun
I have always loved Easter treats.  Especially carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.  Every year I looked forward to the bunny carrot cake my mom would make for Easter.  I continued that tradition with my own kids but this year I decided to modify the cake now that I discovered fondant.  I used the same cake recipe since it's awesome! but modified the icing some so it could hold up to the fondant on top.  I loved the fact that I could make fondant ears because other years I just used card stock or paper ears. Fondant works much better.
 Here's the bunny cake!

I also tried out making cookie Easter baskets. These are made from 7 stacked cookies with chocolate fondant handles then filled with jelly beans, chocolate eggs and a chocolate bunny cookie. from the book "Ultimate Cookies" by Julia Usher.  This book is awesome, she makes amazing cookies!
